Footprints

For her, falling in love
Was just what it sounded like,
A clumsy mishap;
She stepped in a fresh,
Warm pile and tried
To scrape it off
The bottoms of her shoes,
But that’s always
Easier said than done.
Now, she tracks it along
Wherever she goes,
Leaving little footprints
On sidewalks and
In her friend’s apartments.
Sorry,” she says,
“I’ll clean that up.”
But it’s too late.
They all swap glances,
And no one says a thing,
But everyone knows
You don’t just
Wash love off the floor
With lemon water.

  1. Reblogged this on C. E. Queripel and commented:
I just came across this absolute gem, and felt it needed sharing to the ends of the earth and back πŸ™‚ Utterly beautiful, and completely sums up a lot of things for me right now. I’ll be writing some stuff of my own at some point soon, though probably a bit drier than this! Until then…

  2. speechless……awe….delight…..laughter….headshaking……where does this come from inside you?

I can’t decide if touring your mind would be like a night in Disney World, awesome Space Travel, a Stephen King movie, a trek in the jungle, the Chinese New Year in Hong Kong, being in Google Earth’s camera, or falling down Alice’s Rabbit Hole.

One thing it wouldn’t be is dull!

  3. A fart
    like a burglar
    dropping the silver
    shocking the night silence
and creating its own pin drop quiet
    freezing everyone’s natural responses
    leaving all innocent by-standers pregnant
    with explosive tension nervously repressed.
No one can think of any appropriate action to take.

This is the only thing I have that even slightly approaches your mind.
