All But Weeping

She comes in dark and grey of sky
And sits upon my heart, abandon
Dregs of hemlock swirl and shimmer
Taunting ease and light in tandem
Even wanting, I could not
For moonlight’s touch is fleeting, endless
And all but weeping, I beg her, “Go.”
But, no.
My ghost, the temptress flies in arcs
And loops and settles,
Starving, ravenous

She comes in naught and shades of sorrow
And burns with fury, iron slow,
Heart’s tempest shatters smiles
And acid-burrows, bone to bone
Even through scarlet’s climb, she stays
Til moving aches and breathing catches,
And all but weeping, I beg her, “Go.”
But, no.
My ghost, she creeps and claws and wrenches
Feeling, smoking out, my veins
She pinches off each one, and slows
The beating, beating in my chest
Til I can feel no more.
